Closest Call

Privacy Policy

Effective October 4, 2026

This policy explains what information Closest Call collects when you play at playclosestcall.com, how it is used and what other people can see.

The main points
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
  • Your handle, your stats and the hands you play are public.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not sell your information.

1. What we collect

  • Your handle. The name you choose when you start.
  • Your password and sign-in keys, in scrambled form. We store only a one-way hash of your password, of the key that keeps each of your devices signed in, and of the 12-word recovery code given to older handles. We cannot read or recover the originals. We also keep a count of recent wrong password tries so we can pause repeated guessing.
  • Your play. Your chip bank, a record of chip movements, free chip claims, the hands you play and their results, tournament registrations and finishes, and your stats. These records carry the date and time.

We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, payment information or precise location. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.

2. What is stored on your device

The game saves two things in your browser's local storage: your sign-in key, so you stay signed in on that device, and the last Mark you picked. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you clear your browser's site data you will be signed out, and you will need your password to sign back in. If you let your browser or a password manager save your password, that is stored by them, not by us.

3. What other people can see

  • Your handle and your stats appear on the leaderboards, which anyone can view.
  • Players at your table see your handle, your chips and your actions. Your Mark is shown only at a showdown.
  • Any hand can be shared as a link. The shared page shows the dice, the pot and the handles and results of the players in that hand, and can be viewed by anyone who has the link.

Because handles are public, we recommend that you do not use your real name as your handle.

4. How we use information

We use the information above to run the game: to sign you in, keep your chips and stats, seat you at tables and tournaments, show leaderboards and shared hands, keep play fair, enforce our Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy, and fix problems.

5. Companies that help run the game

  • Cloudflare hosts the game and its database. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical details of each connection, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to deliver and protect the site.
  • Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser requests them directly from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser details.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the game, its players or others from harm.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your handle and play records for as long as the game runs, so that all-time leaderboards and hand links keep working. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

7. Your choices

  • You can stop playing at any time.
  • You can ask us to delete your handle and the records linked to it by writing to support@playclosestcall.com. Because we do not know who you are, we will ask you to show that the handle is yours.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your information, such as the right to see or correct it. Write to us and we will help.

8. Children

Closest Call is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child is using the game, please tell us and we will remove the handle.

9. Security

The game is served over an encrypted connection, and passwords and sign-in keys are stored only in hashed form. No online service can promise perfect security, so use a password you do not use anywhere else and keep it private.

10. Where information is processed

The game is operated from the United States, and information is processed there and in other countries where Cloudflare operates.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the effective date.
