How to use it

- Read off the chance of rolling exactly that total, that total or more, or that total or less.
The results are exact. The calculator counts every possible combination of dice, so there is no rounding beyond the last digit shown.
How dice totals behave
- The average is easy. A six-sided die averages 3.5, so the average total is 3.5 times the number of dice. Two dice average 7, five dice average 17.5, fifteen dice average 52.5.
- More dice means a tighter bunch. One die is equally likely to show any face. With two dice, 7 is six times as likely as 2. With fifteen dice, about 71% of rolls land between 46 and 59, and the extremes almost never appear.
- The shape is symmetrical. A total a certain distance below the average is exactly as likely as the total the same distance above it.
- Extremes are rare. Fifteen sixes in a row happens about once in 470 billion rolls.

Seven. Six of the 36 combinations add up to 7, which is a 16.7% chance.

Seventeen and eighteen are tied, each with a 10.0% chance.
